چکیده

Abstract Over the last few decades, several types of evidence such as presence hominin remains, lithic assemblages, and bones with anthropogenic surface modifications have demonstrated that early human communities inhabited European subcontinent prior to Jaramillo Subchron (1.07–0.98 Ma). While most studies focused primarily on technologies raw material management, relatively little is known about food procurement strategies. there some showing access meat other animal-based resources, their mode acquisition associated butchery processes are still poorly understood. This paper presents a taphonomic zooarchaeological analysis Fuente Nueva-3 (FN3) (Guadix-Baza, Spain) faunal assemblage, providing more in-depth understanding subsistence strategies in Europe. The present results show hominins had marrow wide range animal taxa, including elephants, hippopotami, small- medium-sized animals. At same time, carnivore activity at site suggests these likely faced degree competition from large predators when acquiring processing carcasses.

Immunospecificity of albumin detected in 1.6 million-year-old fossils from Venta Micena in Orce, Granada, Spain.

The Orce skull fragment from southern Spain, dated at 1.6 Myr, has been a subject of heated controversy since it was first discovered in 1982. If it is hominid, as its discoverers contend, it is by far the oldest fossil hominid yet found in western Europe and implies that human populations settled this region much earlier than was previously realized. Numerous stone artifacts found at the Orce ...

A new early Pleistocene hominin mandible from Atapuerca-TD6, Spain.

We present the description of a new mandibular specimen, ATD6-113, recovered in 2006 from the TD6 level of the Gran Dolina cave site in Sierra de Atapuerca, northern Spain. A detailed study of the lithostratigraphy of the top sequence of this level, the section from where all human remains have been recovered so far, is also presented. We have observed that the hominin stratum, previously defin...

An Early Pleistocene hominin mandible from Atapuerca-TD6, Spain.

We present a mandible recovered in 2003 from the Aurora Stratum of the TD6 level of the Gran Dolina site (Sierra de Atapuerca, northern Spain). The specimen, catalogued as ATD6-96, adds to the hominin sample recovered from this site in 1994-1996, and assigned to Homo antecessor. ATD6-96 is the left half of a gracile mandible belonging to a probably female adult individual with premolars and mol...
